Actor Writer Director Producer
David was born in Scotland in 1966. His father was a movie fan, so he spent a lot of his childood watching US blockbusters in the cinema. When the VHS market exploded, he also became a fan of US indie and exploitation genre films.
He moved to London in his twenties to study acting. He took part-time classes at the Lee Strasberg Studio, but he gained most of his experence from working on student films, and micro budget feature films.
He also began to write screenplays, then decided to make his own feature film. He wrote a comedy caper movie that was set in Scotland, LA, and Las Vegas called "Pasty Faces" He made a promo trailer in the US, then created a business plan to take to the industry.
The film was financed by the executive producer of "Lock Stock" and "Snatch". The film got a theatrical, TV, DVD deal, and led to other offers. David "I was not happy with my first film for many reasons. Some due to my lack of experience, some because it was made by a committee"
"However, shooting a film all over the world in a short period of time was a baptism by fire. It was my film school, but in the process, I lost the passion for making films for a few years. I knew if I had a future, it would lie in the years ahead as technology and the web evolved.
David spent the next few years writing better screenplays and trying to raise private finance to control his projects. He finally secured £500,000 for "SCREEN", but the global financial collapse struck. This crippled his investors just weeks before the shoot in Los Angeles.
He pulled a plan together to make a micro budget movie from his day job savings every month. Mission X was funded over a year from his car park cleaning job at McDonalds. A worker there also invested some money into the film. "I got my passion back for filmmaking with MX" The film is currently being considered by several companies for a much bigger budget remake.
David then went back to his horror movie SCREEN. He financed the film via crowdfunding in 2011, and got help from filmmaker friends in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The film is currently in post production for a 2012 release. He also acted in Oklahoma Ward's horror film CRAWL while in Tulsa.
The next project will be an original crime film in Las Vegas in 2012. He is also developing the MX remake, a web series with a film, and several other projects. If SCREEN does well, it also has a sequel story.
